A routine vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on 12 June 2025 was disrupted when Democratic Rep. John Mannion of New York confronted fellow New Yorker Mike Lawler, a Republican, in a profanity-laden tirade on the chamber floor. Video and audio captured inside the chamber show Mannion shouting, “F---ing stop it, Lawler! This is f---ing madness… get some f---ing balls—tell them!” after Lawler briefly stood on the Democrats’ side of the aisle. Lawler responded by telling Mannion to “f--- off,” according to reporters present. The exchange caused several lawmakers and floor staff to intervene before order was restored and the vote proceeded. House rules bar members from using profanity during debate, but the presiding officer did not announce any immediate disciplinary action. Mannion released a written statement later in the evening addressing the incident. As of early Friday, neither lawmaker had been formally reprimanded, though ethics complaints remain possible under House decorum guidelines.
