A survivor recounted losing his wife, newborn, and seven others in the flood. The Niger State government declared a public holiday for residents to pray and sympathize with the victims' families. International responses included messages of solidarity and support from Germany and Japan. Japan's Foreign Minister Iwaya delivered condolences to Nigeria's Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar following the serious flood damage caused by heavy rainfall in Niger State.
