The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed condolences over the devastating floods in the Mokwa area of Niger State, Nigeria, which have resulted in significant loss of life and destruction. Turkey extended its sympathies to the victims' families and the Nigerian people. Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda also conveyed his condolences to the Niger State government and residents affected by the disaster. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari mourned the loss of over 170 lives from the floods in Niger State and a separate road accident in Kano State, describing the deaths as painful and devastating. A survivor recounted losing his wife, newborn, and seven others in the flood. The Niger State government declared a public holiday for residents to pray and sympathize with the victims' families. International responses included messages of solidarity and support from Germany and Japan. Japan's Foreign Minister Iwaya delivered condolences to Nigeria's Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar following the serious flood damage caused by heavy rainfall in Niger State.
