U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who represents Washington's 7th district, spoke at a peaceful rally outside the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., protesting immigration enforcement actions. The event was described as an anti-ICE rally. Jayapal called for the release of immigrants who have been arrested and an end to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. She stated, "Enough of these mass ICE raids that are sweeping up innocent people of every legal status, tearing apart families and our communities." Other Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Linda Sanchez, also criticized the ICE raids, describing them as inhumane and part of a broken immigration system. Sanchez said she is working with local officials to determine if any residents in her district were unlawfully detained.
