Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, issued a series of statements mourning three senior Iranian commanders—Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Major General Hossein Salami and Major General Gholam Ali Rashid—whom it said were killed in recent Israeli strikes. The group praised the officers’ longstanding logistical and political backing for Palestinian factions, particularly during the 2023–24 conflict it calls “Al-Aqsa Flood.” The Brigades also endorsed Iran’s retaliatory missile attacks on Israel, describing the strikes as a “historic” operation that, in its view, rattled the Israeli military establishment. Declaring that it stands “shoulder to shoulder” with Iran’s leadership and people, Hamas vowed that the slain commanders’ support would hasten what it termed the ultimate defeat of Israel.
