Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, experienced extreme cold temperatures this week, with lows reaching -8°F on January 22, 2025, just shy of the record low of -9°F set in 1984. This marked the coldest stretch in over three decades, with five consecutive sub-zero lows recorded, the most frigid period since records began in the late 1800s. The temperature at Harrisburg International Airport (FlyHIA) dropped to -7°F, making it the eighth coldest temperature recorded in the Harrisburg area since records began in 1888. However, a warming trend is expected to begin, with forecasts indicating that temperatures will rise above freezing by Sunday, January 28, 2025.
