Starting February 10, 2025, all travelers from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia, including Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, will be required to receive a meningitis vaccine. This mandate was announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) following protests by Saudi-bound passengers over vaccine shortages. The protests highlighted concerns among travelers who were unable to secure the necessary vaccination, prompting the authorities to take action to ensure compliance with Saudi health regulations for travel. The situation has raised alarms regarding vaccine availability, as the demand for the meningitis vaccine is expected to increase significantly with the upcoming travel season.
