In a press conference, Valverde stated, "There was never an argument or conflict between Ancelotti and me," emphasizing that both his wife and the coach want the best for him. He noted that he does not use social media, which made his wife's tweets a surprise to him. Valverde also acknowledged the recent defeat to Barcelona, saying, "The loss against Barcelona didn’t do us any good; sometimes we believe too much in ourselves." He further clarified that he would not take sides in any disagreement between his wife and Ancelotti, stating, "I’m not going to discuss who was right, her or Ancelotti."
