Chicago police officers fatally shot 58-year-old Timothy Glaze on January 3, 2025, following a domestic dispute call at Albany Terrace Apartments, a senior apartment building in Little Village. Newly released body camera footage shows Glaze approaching officers with a knife after they knocked on his apartment door. Glaze’s girlfriend had called 911, reporting that he was armed with a knife and preventing her from leaving a room. The officers, retreating into the hallway, opened fire when Glaze raised the knife and continued advancing toward them. Glaze was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital, and the Cook County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) released the footage as part of its ongoing investigation. Activists have raised concerns about the officers' actions, while Glaze’s family has called for justice, citing his mental health struggles at the time of the incident.
