Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation stone for the Burlton Park Sports Hub in Jalandhar on June 11, 2025. The event was attended by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with other party leaders including Rajya Sabha MPs Ashok Mittal and Balbir Singh. The sports hub, with an estimated cost of INR 77.76 crore, is planned as an international-level multi-sport complex featuring a multi-purpose stadium. Punjab Minister Ravjot Singh described the occasion as historic for Jalandhar, emphasizing that thousands of residents will benefit from the facility daily for sports and exercise. The construction is expected to be completed within a year. Additionally, Kejriwal announced plans to develop an international cricket stadium in Amritsar and highlighted efforts to support Punjab's sports teams by providing home venues, reducing the need to play in other states. During the event, Kejriwal also flagged off a shipment of rugby balls for the Rugby World Cup, underscoring Jalandhar's aspiration to become a global sports industry hub.
