US State Dept Approves $2.53B Tank Sale to Romania, BAE Awarded $64M Contract for Howitzers, Bulgaria OKs $1.5B Stryker Purchase, US-India to Co-Produce Armored Vehicles

The US State Department has approved the potential sale of Abrams main battle tanks to Romania for an estimated $2.53 billion. Additionally, the US Department of Defense has awarded BAE a $64 million contract modification to produce M109A7 155mm Self Propelled Howitzers and M992A3 Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicles. The Bulgarian parliament has approved a $1.5 billion purchase of 183 Stryker fighting vehicles from the US to modernize the country's army and align it with NATO standards. Furthermore, the US and India have agreed to co-produce Stryker armored vehicles to counter China's military influence in Asia, with India aiming to reduce its dependence on Russian weapons by partnering with the US for armored vehicle production.
