US companies added fewer jobs than forecast in October, suggesting demand for workers is starting to wane. Factory activity in the US stumbled to a three-month low as sagging orders and scant production growth undercut hopes that manufacturing is turning the corner. Challenger Gray reported that US-based employers announced 36,836 job cuts in October, up 9% from September. Job cuts YTD are 164% higher compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
