The downturn in UK factory orders has eased in June, according to the latest survey from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). The CBI Industrial Trends Orders index for June showed an actual figure of -18, which is an improvement from the previous month's -33 and better than the forecast of -26 and the expected -25. Despite this improvement, export demand remains weak. The survey indicates that British manufacturing orders contracted at a reduced pace compared to the previous month.
