Twilio Inc. has announced a significant leadership change with the departure of its co-founder Jeff Lawson, who has led the company for 16 years, from the roles of CEO and board member. Khozema Shipchandler, who has been with Twilio after a 22-year career at GE, has replaced Lawson as the new CEO. Jeff Epstein, who has been on the Twilio board and served as the Lead Independent Director since 2017, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board. The company's stock rose 7% following the news, as investors responded positively to the change amid recent challenges, including slowing sales growth and pressure from activist investors Legion Partners and Anson Funds. Twilio also expects its fourth-quarter revenue to exceed the top end of its earlier forecast range.
