In the ongoing debate over insulin price controls, both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are claiming credit for reducing costs. Trump asserts that he lowered insulin prices during his administration, citing a voluntary program for some seniors in Medicare Part D. However, Biden's administration implemented a $35 per month cap on insulin costs for all seniors in Medicare Parts D and B through the Inflation Reduction Act. This mandatory program requires coverage of more products and is set to introduce a $2,000 annual cap on drug costs starting next year, not $200 as previously claimed. There are conflicting reports about the origins of the insulin price cap, with some attributing the idea to a pharmaceutical company.
Trump says he’s the one he brought down insulin prices for seniors, not Biden. Uh, not quite. #Debates2024 https://t.co/DOPBLIkCqu
Trump misleads as he tries to take credit for lowering insulin prices. Trump had a voluntary program, but Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped insulin co-pays for Medicare patients at $35/mo.
Trump: I’m the one that got insulin down for seniors FACT CHECK: This is a blatant lie. Trump did not cap insulin costs, President Biden did for seniors through the Inflation Reduction Act. Trump’s Project 2025 wants to repeal it, which would raise insulin costs for over a… https://t.co/NamQ6OWuhU
Yes, Trump did lower the cost of Insulin. #Debates2024 https://t.co/YQXftHri6q
In this debate, they're both taking credit on #insulin credits. Here's are the facts via @rachelcohrs: Biden and Trump are fighting to claim credit for $35 insulin. It was actually a pharma giant’s idea https://t.co/XuFmqLPV3t via @statnews
I can vouch for Orange man on insulin -- I know someone with diabetes who commented on it consistently during the Trump years how thankful they were that the price dropped so much thanks to him. He DID do that, not Biden. I am 100% certain.
Trump: Got $35 insulin for some seniors in Medicare Part D with a voluntary program for pharma firms Biden: Got $35 insulin for all seniors in Medicare Parts D and B with a mandatory program requiring coverage of more products and in effect longer Details: https://t.co/zSw1vnwt4r
Biden made false claims about his drug policies in Medicare. It's a $35/month cap on insulin, not $15/month. And it's a $2,000 per year annual cap starting next year, not $200.
So Trump puts on insulin price controls saving people millions, Biden erased them jacking up the prices and then puts Trump’s controls back on later and takes credit for it. Get the hell out of here.
