Stellantis and Mercedes-Benz have halted construction on their battery site in Germany to review the business due to slowing electric vehicle (EV) sales and high costs. Additionally, Stellantis-backed battery maker ACC has paused plans for plants in Germany and Italy. Stellantis is considering dropping some suppliers and producing car parts in-house to reduce costs associated with the shift to electrification. Despite these challenges, Stellantis projects its Italian plants will be running at full capacity by 2030, driven by new models, including hybrids, according to its Chief Executive.
