Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stern warning to Western nations, stating that if they allow Ukraine to strike Russia with high-technology long-range missiles such as Storm Shadow or ATACMS, Russia will significantly boost its air defenses. Putin emphasized that the delivery of Western weapons to Ukraine constitutes direct involvement in the conflict and could lead to very serious problems. He also suggested that Moscow could provide long-range weapons to other countries to strike Western targets in retaliation. During his meeting with heads of international news agencies, Putin reiterated that Russia has the right to supply weapons to regions from where attacks on sensitive targets in countries sending weapons to Kyiv could be carried out. Additionally, Putin warned that the use of Western-supplied weapons by Ukraine to strike inside Russia would be considered a dangerous escalation. Putin specifically mentioned Germany and NATO allies in his warnings, and also communicated his stance to U.S. President Joe Biden.
