Putin Visits Russia's Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don, Meets Army Leaders, Briefed on War Progress

Vladimir Putin made an unannounced visit to the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don near the border with Ukraine. He met with the leaders of the Russian army and was briefed on the progress of the war in Ukraine and new models of military equipment. Gerasimov and Shoigu accompanied him, and the visit comes after Putin's trip to Kazakhstan. The headquarters had been seized by Prigozhin and his PMC 'Wagner' during a mutiny in June 2022.
