New York City and London have topped a new ranking of 1,000 global cities despite receiving low scores for their quality of life. This ranking, conducted by Oxford Economics, also places Silicon Valley in third, Los Angeles in seventh, San Francisco in eighth, Toronto in 17th, Chicago in 29th, and Miami in 36th. Austin, Texas, ranks 39th globally, with strong economic performance, ranking 20th in that category. The report forecasts that both GDP and employment growth in Austin will be among the fastest of any U.S. city.
