A new systematic review has cast doubt on the effectiveness of 'gender-affirming medical care' for improving mental health in children and teenagers. The review indicates that many studies on hormonal interventions for gender-confused youth report positive outcomes that are actually insignificant, small, or negative. This has led to calls from doctors and medical groups to focus on mental health in gender-confused children. Additionally, data from LexisNexis Risk Solutions, which looked at over 300M patients, show that diagnoses of gender dysphoria in minors have doubled from 2019 to 2023, with a 133% increase in gender identity diagnoses, a 108% increase in eating disorders, and a 77% increase in phobic disorders.
