MicroStrategy, Semler Scientific Increase Bitcoin Holdings; BlackRock's ETF Reaches 620,252 BTC Amid $330B Corporate Investment Forecast

MicroStrategy, led by Michael Saylor, has continued its aggressive acquisition of Bitcoin, purchasing an additional 1,895 BTC for approximately $180.3 million between April 28 and May 4. This latest acquisition brings the company's total holdings to 555,450 BTC, valued at $52.4 billion, with an average purchase price of $68,550 per Bitcoin.

Semler Scientific, a medical device company, has also increased its Bitcoin holdings, acquiring 167 BTC for $16.2 million between April 30 and May 2. This purchase elevates Semler's total to 3,634 BTC, making it the fourth largest Bitcoin treasury company in the U.S., with a current valuation of $343.9 million at an average price of $88,700 per Bitcoin.

BlackRock, a major player in the financial sector, has significantly expanded its Bitcoin-related investments. The firm's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) added 5,613 BTC worth $531.2 million on May 5, contributing to a total of 41,452 BTC ($3.92 billion) acquired over the past two weeks. BlackRock's total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 620,252 BTC, valued at $58.51 billion.

Bernstein analysts have projected that companies worldwide could allocate up to $330 billion to Bitcoin treasuries within the next five years, indicating a growing trend of corporate investment in the cryptocurrency.

At Strategy World in Orlando, Florida, Michael Saylor has publicly stated that artificial intelligence (AI) could drive significant demand for Bitcoin, suggesting a future where AI systems might purchase the cryptocurrency as part of their operations. Saylor believes AI will 100x productivity, leading to an explosion in Bitcoin demand.
