Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is facing legal challenges on multiple fronts. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has accused Meta of withholding information from federal regulators during the original reviews of its Instagram and WhatsApp acquisitions. In addition, Italy's antitrust regulator AGCM has fined Meta €3.5 million for what it described as unfair commercial practices. The fine was issued because Instagram users were not adequately informed about the use of their personal data for commercial purposes, and both Facebook and Instagram users were not given proper information on account management and data breaches.
