The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman Chris Tanev to a six-year contract worth $27 million, with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.5 million. The deal includes a full no-move clause and approximately 80 percent of the contract is in bonuses. Tanev, who is 34 years old, has signed the longest and most lucrative contract of his career, which will keep him with the Maple Leafs until he is 40. Toronto's need for Tanev is immediate. In addition to Tanev, the Maple Leafs have also re-signed goalie Joseph Woll to a three-year contract with an AAV of $3.66 million. The Maple Leafs completed these signings in advance of the market opening.
