In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, India's Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia discussed the government's initiatives in the telecom sector, emphasizing that the government will not interfere in Vodafone Idea's operations. Scindia highlighted plans for establishing 5G labs to foster development and use cases, and he projected that India's 4G stack would be successfully rolled out by mid-2025. He also stated that BSNL is expected to become profitable once it launches its 4G network and enhances service quality. Scindia noted that India maintains the lowest tariffs globally, with telecom companies having invested ₹4.26 lakh crore over the past three years. He defended recent tariff hikes, asserting that returns on capital expenditures are necessary for telecom companies. Furthermore, Scindia expressed confidence that India's 4G stack could serve as a viable alternative to Chinese technology in the global market.
