The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released its third report on e-cigarette advertising and sales in the U.S., highlighting an increase in sales between 2020 and 2021. Concurrently, concerns over the health effects of e-cigarettes are growing, with studies pointing to harmful impacts. Representative Frank Pallone criticized Big Tobacco's aggressive marketing strategies, particularly their targeting of young people with vapes. In a related regulatory action, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken significant enforcement steps against the underage sale of ZYN nicotine pouches. Between October 2023 and February 2024, the FDA issued 119 warning letters and filed 41 civil money penalty complaints against sellers for underage sales.
