Ford has laid off 400 workers as the auto strike approaches its one-month mark. Efforts to raise UAW wages by 25% have failed with the union. Additionally, Ford has laid off an additional 495 workers citing the UAW strike. The company is also temporarily laying off 330 workers in Chicago and Ohio due to the impact of the strike. Ford has warned that if the strike continues, up to 500,000 supplier employees could be laid off. The CEO of Ford has stated that the strike could result in up to 500,000 supplier workers being laid off. Ford attempted to settle the strike by raising wages, which would put workers among the top 25% of all US hourly salaried jobs.
