The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has filed a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), also known as American Education Services (AES), for allegedly demanding money from borrowers that they do not owe and reporting false information to credit reporting companies. This is the second enforcement action within a month against PHEAA, accusing them of pursuing unlawful collections on student loans discharged in bankruptcy.
