Bank of America analysts are striking to cap the workweek at 100 hours after an employee's death. The banking culture of long hours is criticized as cruel and unhealthy. Concerns are raised about the impact on employees' health and well-being.
Why Wall Street is transfixed by a BofA banker's untimely death https://t.co/6h3RztIetJ
Got 3.5 hours of sleep (normally religious re: getting 7) and running on fumes, despite several months of good diet/fitness/workout habits. Even with the full suite of tiredness-fighting aids one learns about in finance. Absolutely no idea how I did this in my 20s, repeatedly.
I cannot remember the last time I slept full 8hrs at a stretch in the last week and a half. Working late night hours from India is just killing me.
some kid just killed himself after working 120 hours a week at Bank of America a vet, with a wife and kid you do not hate wall street enough

can someone explain to me what work investment banking analysts do for 100 hours a week?
seeing lot of posts about IB grind, 140hr weeks, health issues, etc imo- anything beyond 100 hrs in a week and you’re getting deep into negative marginal output just too braindead to be producing meaningful work product honestly only way to view this is hazing
> drinking excessive amounts of energy drinks the real hardass finance people i've worked with who were working insane hours consistently avoided energy drinks and coffee. energy drinks in particular seem dangerous but they avoided them because it wasn't a sustainable model https://t.co/Qcn16ZOTFA
The BofA strike against a guy literally being worked to death never happened. If you wanted proof that Wall Street is all rule following talentless kids from rich families now you have it. They are too scared of getting dinged on their bonuses. The cog turns.
Any confirmation on if this is true and what the cause of death was? I know the bank in question here is BAML Very sad to see this if it is true check in on your colleagues and prioritize yourself - no one else will do it for you https://t.co/HBj6SEN4dX
These banks need to be held responsible for forcing associates to work 60+ hour weeks and literally killing and maiming people. @BankofAmerica $bac $xlf https://t.co/87x1X5czA1
The banking culture of insane hours is so bizarre and obviously cruel / unhealthy, but it's also just kind of pathetic cosplay by management? There is no possible universe where an associate could have enough urgent work to require 18 hours a day, seven days a week, for a month. https://t.co/XmGRPo43NW

Christ, the *goal* of this strike is to only work 100 hours per week after an employee died on the job. Is BofA a 19th century textile factory or something? https://t.co/vmGWWdvmJk
I did 115+ hr weeks two decades ago. But rarely frequently and never ever consecutively. This is so tragic and totally utterly avoidable. IBD analyst work isn’t cerebral - you’re not sitting there at 3am coding what could be incredible value creation. You’re editing decks by… https://t.co/Ej6EAVDFDB
