In preparation for hosting COP29, Azerbaijan's state-owned oil and gas company has been actively engaging with US officials and consultants in Davos to improve its climate credentials, despite the UN having no measurements of methane leaks in the country. Following international backlash for the lack of female representation, President Ilham Aliyev expanded the COP29 organizing committee from 28 men to 41 members, now including 12 women.
