An American couple in Uganda who were accused of torturing a boy have pleaded guilty to lesser charges. The couple, who were charged with aggravated torture and child trafficking, will now pay fines of up to 105 million shillings ($28,000). In a separate incident, rebels in Mali have claimed to have taken over a base that was vacated by UN peacekeepers. Meanwhile, the Uganda military has announced that it has killed a number of fighters from an Islamic State-linked group who murdered a honeymooning couple and their guide in a national park last month.
