The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a significant funding initiative, allocating $750 million towards the development of clean hydrogen energy projects across 24 states. This initiative aims to support the creation and deployment of American-made hydrogen, a clean fuel that emits only water when consumed. Among the beneficiaries are Ballard Power Systems and Plug Power, receiving $40 million and over $77 million respectively, to further their hydrogen industry projects, with Plug Power receiving a total of $160 million in awards. Additionally, the funding will aid in the production of 14 GW of fuel cells and 10 GW of electrolyzers per year, according to the Department of Energy, benefiting 52 projects. This move is part of a broader effort to drive U.S. leadership in electrolysis technology, boost manufacturing for clean hydrogen, and support the clean energy transition, ultimately creating 1,500 new jobs. Notably, five companies in #MA3 are receiving over $94 million, and $50 million is allocated to @nelhydrogen for a new clean hydrogen facility in Plymouth. Ballard Power Systems was also awarded $40 million for a fuel-cell production factory in Rockwall.
