Vitaly Ioffe, a resident of St. Petersburg, Russia, was murdered after being stabbed over 20 times. Ioffe was known for his protests against the Kremlin regime, including holding a poster referencing the Kursk submarine disaster. Additionally, the death of Pavel Kushnir, a 40-year-old Russian pianist who died in detention after criticizing the war in Ukraine, has transformed him into an antiwar symbol. Kushnir, who had posted antiwar messages on his YouTube channel, died on a hunger strike in a Siberian prison. Rights advocate Olga Romanova remarked that Kushnir 'died from indifference,' as he had only five subscribers on his channel.
