U.S. Makes Record Fentanyl Seizure, Detains 16 Sinaloa Suspects and Arrests 205 Child Predators

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said Tuesday that federal agents carried out the largest fentanyl seizure in the nation’s history during coordinated raids centered on Albuquerque, New Mexico. Authorities recovered roughly three million fentanyl-laced pills and 11.5 kilograms of fentanyl powder, together with about 35 kilograms of methamphetamine and 7.5 kilograms of cocaine. Sixteen suspected members of the Sinaloa Cartel, including alleged leader Heriberto Salazar Amaya, were arrested.

The Drug Enforcement Administration called the haul its biggest on record. Investigators estimate the pills’ street value at up to $84 million and say the quantity contained enough of the synthetic opioid to kill approximately 5.75 million people. According to the Justice Department, the trafficking network moved drugs through New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Colorado and Oregon.

Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday detailed a separate nationwide crackdown, “Operation Restore Justice,” targeting child sexual exploitation. Over a five-day span the FBI and partner agencies arrested 205 alleged child predators across 55 field offices and rescued 115 children. Bondi said the back-to-back operations underscore the administration’s commitment to dismantling major criminal networks and protecting vulnerable communities.
