I’m LOVING “Ripley” on Netflix. I love the acting, story, and the black & white noir vibe. The fact that it takes place in Italy is an added bonus! It’s so good. I’ve got 2 episodes left, but still, highly recommended 🙌🏻
Dakota Fanning on acting with Andrew Scott in Ripley: "We were so [in character that we just wanted] the other one to drop dead. Steve would cut, and Andrew and I [would say to each other], “You bitch!” Then we’d crack up. We had to bring that play and joy to it." 🔗:… https://t.co/8wvBx8fKmv

As a random side note, Ripley on Netflix is incredible. Gorgeously filmed in dark, brooding, monochrome, Roman Polanski "A Knife in the Water" style. Amazing acting. Better even than The Talented Mr Ripley, which was a fabulous film.
I have a lot of thoughts about Ripley @NetflixUK - all good - but Andrew Scott’s face when confronted with Dickie Greenleaf’s “art” is priceless.

Patricia Highsmith had quite a bit in common with her most infamous character, Tom Ripley. https://t.co/0if4khiNlo
“Even the best directors have quailed at [Patricia Highsmith]’s audaciousness, her flouting of moral certainties, her lack of interest in psychological explanations,” Susannah Clapp wrote in 1999, in advance of Anthony Minghella’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”https://t.co/zBq96bCtVN
Ignore the doomsters and naysayers, Ripley is beautiful, tense, clever and a masterclass in the arts of fine acting and cinematography. https://t.co/bVPZmcYjZH

I wrote about how Anthony Minghella turned The Talented Mr. Ripley into a heightened study of loneliness, and successfully pulled off the trick of making Highsmith's uncanny almost-human into a sympathetic and tragic figure. https://t.co/erWl2gji2y

#Ripley is, quite simply, a small-screen masterpiece, and credit for its triumph goes, first and foremost, to writer/director Steven Zaillian. @beastobsessed interviewed him about the #Netflix show: https://t.co/eRZZt9Gz0l

Steve Zaillian’s #Ripley is a fascinating new take on the Tom Ripley story. It’s not a remake of Minghella’s film, but a bold reinterpretation. It also has some of the most gorgeous B&W cinematography I’ve seen in some time. Robert Elswit’s work is nothing short of stunning. https://t.co/bhToA6h0Pw

Netflix’s version of Ripley is a brilliant stylistic exercise in b&w, but no fun at all. Andrew Scott is miscast as Tom - too old, insufficiently charming (vital to the plot!). Do watch Anthony Minghella’s genius The Talented Mr Ripley with its golden mesmerizing allure.…
