The Netflix series 'Ripley,' starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning, has garnered attention for its captivating performances and unique approach to the character. The show has been praised for its tension, acting, and cinematography, with Scott's portrayal of Tom Ripley receiving particular acclaim. 'Ripley' has achieved significant viewership on Netflix, debuting at No. 8 on the Top 10 list with 2.3 million views. The series has sparked discussions about its noir vibe, Italian setting, and comparisons to previous adaptations of Patricia Highsmith's work.

Remaking Talented Mr Ripley is audacious … that’s not a movie with flaws …
With its fancy cinematography, high-toned Italian settings, and solemn acting style, Netflix’s new series “Ripley” practically beats you over the head with its bid to be received as art. https://t.co/ZqbZP2MS2m
I hate to say it, but Ripley, which is gorgeously shot by Robert Elswit, is completely style over substance, and as vacuous as its Venezia party goers.
Netflix’s new series “Ripley” is one of those slow, static, deadening high-production-value works that wow the prestige TV snobs but leave the rest of us cold. https://t.co/ZqbZP2MkcO
Netflix’s series “Ripley,” the latest iteration of Patricia Highsmith’s murderous con man from “The Talented Mr Ripley,” is an arty, inert snooze. Its flat portrayal of the title character doesn’t come close to the novels or other fantastic adaptations. https://t.co/ZqbZP2MkcO
Finally finished "Ripley." Gorgeously shot, wonderfully acted, and as tense as a thriller can be. One of the best shows I've ever seen on @netflix.

Twenty-five years later, ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ appears far more impressive and relevant, even if back then it felt radically out of time. https://t.co/9clH8OWSe1
Watched the first episode of RIPLEY and the new Criterion 4K release of PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK last night and my eyeballs are exhausted today. Both were absolutely stunning.
I’m LOVING “Ripley” on Netflix. I love the acting, story, and the black & white noir vibe. The fact that it takes place in Italy is an added bonus! It’s so good. I’ve got 2 episodes left, but still, highly recommended 🙌🏻
Dakota Fanning on acting with Andrew Scott in Ripley: "We were so [in character that we just wanted] the other one to drop dead. Steve would cut, and Andrew and I [would say to each other], “You bitch!” Then we’d crack up. We had to bring that play and joy to it." 🔗:… https://t.co/8wvBx8fKmv
‘Ripley,’ starring Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning, takes a very different approach to the con game than 1999's ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley.’ Read VF’s full review: https://t.co/vMyX4Wx0yU https://t.co/ydIEmym4SH

As a random side note, Ripley on Netflix is incredible. Gorgeously filmed in dark, brooding, monochrome, Roman Polanski "A Knife in the Water" style. Amazing acting. Better even than The Talented Mr Ripley, which was a fabulous film.
I have a lot of thoughts about Ripley @NetflixUK - all good - but Andrew Scott’s face when confronted with Dickie Greenleaf’s “art” is priceless.
