Emerald Fennell's film #Saltburn, set in the mid-2000s, has sparked strong reactions. Critics praise the performances of Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan but criticize its portrayal of class dynamics. Fennell's screenplay is now available for free download, and the film has been accused of whitewashing the uglier side of the upper classes and portraying the working class as scheming villains. Despite the mixed reviews, the film is deemed superior to Fennell's previous work, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN.
Emerald Fennell's new film #Saltburn has been accused of portraying the working class as scheming villains. There are a few problems with that theory... https://t.co/WhvEAtYTXV
"#Saltburn is a slickly directed romp with gorgeous cinematography, great comic moments and a shocking twist," writes @KJYossman. "But critics are right that it whitewashes the uglier side of the upper classes." https://t.co/F6na0zNek7
SALTBURN: kind of a mess, but an interesting one, at least in part for some of the absolutely deranged responses it has inspired. Regardless, I find it much superior to Fennell’s previous film, PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN. https://t.co/egopnGSS4v

I am fascinated by the strong reactions to SALTBURN, which I think is, more or less, amusing but with some serious tonal/third act problems. It's too silly to be offensive and too self-consciously outre to work as the class war movie some people seem to think it is.
Set in the mid-2000s, #Saltburn is a classic gothic tale with delicious performances from Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan playing characters who are easy to hate—but not impossible to understand. Click the image below for more: https://t.co/04sHqqu4Bn
