Diddy Guilty of Mann Act Violations, Faces Up to 10 Years

A federal jury in New York on Wednesday convicted Sean "Diddy" Combs on two counts of violating the Mann Act—transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution—while acquitting the music mogul of sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges that could have carried a life sentence.

The 12-member panel reached its partial verdict after three days of deliberations. Prosecutors alleged Combs orchestrated abusive sex parties, using drugs, threats and violence to control participants. Defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo countered that the government overstated Combs’s lifestyle to build a “fake trial.”

Prosecutors told the court they will seek a prison term; each Mann Act count carries a maximum of 10 years. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian is weighing a bail request and will set a sentencing date.
