Democratic Reps. McIver, Coleman, and Menendez May Face Arrests After Clashing with ICE at Newark's Delaney Hall

Democratic Representative LaMonica McIver, along with Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez, were involved in a confrontation with ICE agents at the Delaney Hall Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred during an oversight visit to the facility, where tensions escalated, leading to physical altercations between the lawmakers and federal agents. Body camera footage released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) allegedly shows McIver and other Democratic representatives shoving and screaming at ICE agents. The confrontation reportedly took place as Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested at the facility during a protest against its reopening. DHS officials, including spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin, have indicated that arrests of the involved Congress members are under consideration, following the review of the body camera footage.
