Defense attorney Brian Steel is taken into custody after protesting for a mistrial motion related to denial of counsel. Public outcry and legal actions follow, with appeals and emergency motions filed in response to the judge's controversial actions during the Young Thug racketeering trial in Fulton County, GA.
Brian Steel’s emergency Motion for Bond has been transferred to the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Court of Appeals says because the underlying case is a criminal prosecution with a murder count, the Supreme Court of Georgia has jurisdiction. https://t.co/hhJtUTMNuw https://t.co/tpvl8TseoN
Georgia: Ashleigh Merchant, Attorney defending Brian Steel, states there are 20-25 other lawyers that are with her and are outside the courtroom waiting to testify to defend the right to attorney-client privilege: https://t.co/mc8P9IwiiH
Absolute insanity. The judge is doubling down to figure out who leaked his improper ex parte communication with the prosecutor and a witness. Clown show - if this is what passes for “justice” in Fulton County, GA, every case pending there is tainted. https://t.co/S6T5SkhFk1
Attorneys representing Brian Steel, including Ashley Merchant, Colette Resnik Steel and Alex Susor filed an emergency motion for supersedeas bond on criminal contempt with the GA Court of Appeals. @ajc #YoungThug #YSL https://t.co/mVtcbEJYje
BREAKING 🚨🚨 Judge in the #YoungThug #YSLTrial orders a "show cause" contempt hearing for everyone who was present for his allegedly illegal secret "ex parte" meeting with #FaniWillis' top prosecutor He is obsessed with finding the "leak" - which was perfectly legal https://t.co/QxMsASGGdi
JUSTICE: What happened in Big Fani Willis' case against Young Thug yesterday is the perfect example of why ALL trials must be televised. The ATL bar saw a miscarriage of justice was taking place and showed up to object. We need transparency. Full video (breaks clipped). https://t.co/YwI0dS8CQY
The legal world has the most entertaining content if appreciated properly Young Thug’s trial has devolved into a madhouse. There’s no way this ends well https://t.co/yh9VNbuGcd
A key takeaway from the absolute farce into which the Young Thug racketeering trial in Fulton County has devolved is that a criminal justice system should be permitted to do almost none of its business out of public view; but ours does virtually ALL of its business that way https://t.co/5CKLT6OjIa

Ashleigh Merchant, the one who went after Fani Wills, trying to make herself the center of attention. lol The fact is Steel's WIFE (who's a fantastic attorney) is handling his appeal. https://t.co/gI4hNenBYt
Great summary of the #YoungThug judge's out of control antics. The sad part is: This happens every day, in courtrooms across the country (judges who don't know the law or are openly biased/corrupt, etc.) especially with minority and/or poor defendants. https://t.co/lxAd1qhmtg
Brian Steel is making lawyers look good for a change. Fight for your client. https://t.co/UCR6TTUWZX
Wild, over-the-top abuse of power here. Judge Glanville seems to have lost all sense of prudence. Contempt was based on Defense Attorney Brian Steel refusing to disclose source of info re inexplicable *ex parte conference* w/ sworn witness AND State. A #mistrial is a MUST now. https://t.co/rLxlKLTfZW
The Atlanta bar will revolt if the GA appeals courts don’t reverse Brian Steele being held in contempt. Judges can’t meet ex parte with the govt in criminal cases. Nor can they hold “drumhead” contempt proceedings. Nor can they force lawyers to disclose certain information.
This is one of the most baller things I've ever seen a lawyer do. May we all be represented by someone with convictions like Brian Steel should that day ever come. Also, if this isn't grounds for a mistrial I don't know what is. https://t.co/qRy7cx0IzT
Free Brian Steel! https://t.co/GcGWzGAOmm
A Fulton County sheriff’s officer is taking Brian Steel into custody after he takes off his suit jacket and tie. Steel protests one more time for an additional mistrial motion related to denial of the right to counsel before he’s removed from Judge Glanville’s courtroom.
