VanEck has refiled a spot Bitcoin ETF application with the US SEC, proposing a unique seed funding approach using actual Bitcoin, granting the ETF immediate direct exposure to Bitcoin. The move comes amid rising competition from firms like BlackRock, which is also proposing a spot Bitcoin ETF and is in talks with major market-making firms like Jane Street, Jump, and Virtu to provide liquidity. Other firms including Bitwise, Fidelity, and ARK Invest have also filed amended spot Bitcoin ETF applications. Despite the inconsistent approach of SEC Chairman, Gary Gensler, towards spot Bitcoin ETFs, Mike Novogratz and Alliancebernstein's research arm expect the SEC to approve such funds this year and in early January 2024 respectively. Galaxy Digital CEO also expects spot Bitcoin ETF approvals this year. Amid these developments, Bernstein predicts Bitcoin could hit $150,000 by 2025 and CryptosRUs predicts a Bitcoin rally to new highs as institutional interest keeps growing.
