A report by Chainalysis shows that North Korean hackers targeted cryptocurrency platforms in 2023, with the number of attacks reaching 20. Despite the increase in attacks, the losses from crypto hacks fell to $1.7 billion from an all-time high of $3.7 billion in 2022. The decrease in losses is attributed to fewer attacks on DeFi projects. The hackers stole nearly $430 million from decentralized finance and targeted centralized services, exchanges, and wallet providers. The report also highlights the growth in regulation across 21 jurisdictions globally.
