Lido, a liquid staking protocol, is facing challenges in obtaining grant funding for Arbitrum. Liquid staking is a popular method of earning yield in DeFi, with over $18.4 billion invested in these protocols. Tracking these protocols is important to understand Ether staking and the DeFi market. Lido has proposed a grant on Arbitrum, which would bring more total value locked (TVL) and volume to the platform. There is also the possibility of native stETH minting. However, the grant proposal has caused controversy within the community, with many delegates remaining silent. Some theories suggest that delegates are waiting for someone to tip the vote or that influential delegates are reaching an agreement. The community is split over the grant size and concerns about centralization. Lido-affiliated validators have recently been slashed due to double attestation, a behavior that can lead to penalties in the consensus network. This is the first serious penalty faced by Lido. Despite the challenges, Lido has received support from PlutusDAO and hopes that other big players will vote in favor of the grant proposal.
Huge thanks to @PlutusDAO_io for voting “for” the @LidoFinance STIP proposal There is still a fighting chance I hope others big guys vote soon too @GMX_IO @JonesDAO_io @CamelotDEX @0xfrisson https://t.co/opP8i3bIV0 https://t.co/7BKLNOUV2d

The Lido-affiliated validators which just got slashed appear to be due to double attestation. One of the few "criminal offenses" that will get you slashed in the consensus network is trying to vote for two different blocks as the chain head in the current slot. I am going to say it again and again: if you vote for the @LidoFinance STIP proposal on @arbitrum, you are voting for 1. More TVL (chunk of $14bil comes to Arbi) 2. More volume (chunk of $30m daily volume comes to Arbi) 3. Possibly native stETH minting https://t.co/opP8i3bb5s https://t.co/15vI4zqq6A

The @LidoFinance STIP grant is likely the most contentious vote in recent history, but a lot of delegates have gone quiet I have 2 theories: 1. Everyone is waiting for someone to tip the vote one way so their vote is less contentious 2. The kingpin delegates are agreeing on a… https://t.co/v5xXhg0mgM https://t.co/piBVPToSrF
