Miles Harford, a 34-year-old former Denver-area funeral home owner, has pleaded guilty to charges of corpse abuse and theft. The guilty plea comes after Harford was accused of storing human remains and cremains at a home he rented, including leaving the body of 63-year-old Christina Rosales, who died of Alzheimer's, in a hearse for over a year. Harford, who previously owned Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services in Littleton, faced a total of 12 counts, including forgery, theft, and abuse of a corpse. As part of a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to two charges, with the other 10 counts dismissed. The plea agreement requires that all victims be named within the two charges Harford pleaded guilty to, and he will be liable for restitution on all counts, including those dismissed. The cremated remains of at least 30 people were found improperly stashed at his rental property. The case has drawn attention due to its gruesome nature, following other similar incidents in Colorado's funeral home industry. Harford's sentencing is scheduled for June 9, where he faces up to 18 months in prison.
