The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children unit initiated the investigation in July 2024 after receiving information about the online sharing and accessing of child pornography files. Following the arrest, the prosecutor was terminated from his position. Legal professionals have emphasized that no individual is above the law in response to the arrest.
