Farmers across several states in India have intensified their protests over the demand for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) by engaging in a 'Rail Roko' agitation today. The protests led to heavy traffic at the Singhu border due to police barricading and a nationwide call for a four-hour 'Rail Roko' protest, causing significant disruption to train services. In Punjab, particularly in Devidaspura, Amritsar, heavy police deployment was observed in anticipation of the protests. DSP Rural Inderjeet Singh mentioned that farmer organizations announced the 'Rail Roko' from 12 noon to 4 pm today, with around 150 personnel deployed to maintain law and order. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher emphasized the continuation of protests until their demands are met, stating that the rail blockade was observed in 6 states and declared it a successful program. The central government has been urged not to limit the struggle to Punjab and Haryana, as the rail traffic disruption was widespread.
