Lawyers for former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro submitted a 24-page brief to Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes asserting that technical records from Meta and Google show Mauro Cid, Bolsonaro’s former aide and key state’s witness, controlled and later erased the Instagram account @gabrielar702.
According to the filing, the profile was opened with the address “
[email protected],” created in 2005 and linked to the mobile number seized from Cid by police. IP data supplied by the two companies place the account’s creation at the officer’s residence in Brasília; the profile’s deletion was traced to an IP geolocated in Denmark, which the defense says indicates use of a VPN.
The document argues Cid lied in sworn testimony when he denied owning or using the account and contends the officer’s actions amount to destruction of evidence in the separate inquiry into an alleged effort to obstruct investigations into a purported coup plot. The defense asked that the new material be attached to the related criminal case, ahead of witness examinations set for 1 July.
