Strong storms have been affecting various regions in Colorado and Arizona. In Colorado, storms stretching from Denver International Airport to west central Morgan County and across Western Douglas and Southern Jefferson Counties are moving northeast at 20-40 mph, producing small hail and gusts up to 50 mph. By 10 pm, storms with heavy rain, localized flooding, and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning are expected to end across the northeastern plains, though isolated showers may continue. Some storms are capable of producing large hail up to 1 inch in diameter and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. Thunderstorm coverage is decreasing, with storms mostly confined to higher terrain, especially over the southern mountains and San Luis Valley. In Arizona, thunderstorms are forming north of I-40, with some producing brief heavy rain, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and dime-sized hail. Thunderstorms near Superior and San Tan Valley are causing wind gusts exceeding 40 mph and possibly blowing dust.
