The last two days are the two coldest days in Alaska (statewide average) in 4 years. However, the only temperature records that were set the last two days were record warmth at Sitka, Juneau, and Ketchikan.
Fairbanks, Alaska, had a high temperature of -27F yesterday and also recorded 0.6" new snow. This ties three other days for the most new snow on a day with a high temp of -27F or colder.
Anchorage received 9.9" of snow yesterday and the high temp was +2F. There are 436 days with a high of +2F or colder (since 1916). Before yesterday, the most snow on those 436 days was 1.5" (1/4/1917). 9.9" had never fallen on a day with a high temp under +15F.
