Recent rainfall across the Carolinas and Georgia has brought much-needed relief, with record daily rainfall of 2.21 inches in Asheville and widespread amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches reported. Some areas, such as northeast Georgia mountains through McDowell Co, NC, received 3-4 inches. The rainfall has been welcomed, but dry weather is expected for the rest of the work week. Strong wind gusts accompanied the cold front that pushed across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area. Local reports include 2.67 inches in a backyard and 2.15 inches in NW Charlotte. The rain has been celebrated, but the dry weather is anticipated to continue for the coming week.
