A rare, cold storm system is impacting various regions across the United States, bringing a mix of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and significant snowfall to California, as well as critical fire weather conditions and high winds to other parts of the country. The National Weather Service offices in Sacramento, Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Reno have reported thunderstorms with heavy rainfall, small hail, and gusty winds in California. Snowfall has been significant, with the Sierra receiving 6-12+ inches and snow accumulations down to around 1000 ft. The storm system is also expected to bring isolated to widely scattered rain showers, high-elevation snow showers, and possible thunderstorms through Friday, with snow showers over the region today into Friday. Meanwhile, the NWS offices in Boulder, Norman, and Phoenix have issued warnings for critical fire weather conditions and high winds across Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arizona, with gusts potentially exceeding 70 mph in some areas, leading to rapid spread of wildfires and hazardous travel conditions. A Frost Advisory has also been issued for North Bay Interior Mountains, East Bay Hills, Valleys, Southern Salinas Valley, and the Mountains of San Benito and Interior Monterey County.
