The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has clarified that the record high temperature of 52.9°C reported in Delhi on May 29 was incorrect due to a 3°C (5.4°F) sensor error. The faulty reading was from the Mungeshwar weather station. Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju cited the IMD report confirming the error. Despite this, two other stations without faulty sensors recorded record high temperatures.
